We are a close-knit, home-based preschool rooted in Smithfield, NC.

Our school began its journey in 2000. Over the years, our preschool has become a second home for many families. We have joyfully watched students grow, graduate, and bring back the next generation as part of our extended family. Our legacy is built on genuine relationships, small class sizes, and a commitment to providing care that feels as warm and welcoming as home itself.

Who We Are NOT

We are not a licensed childcare program. Our program does not offer full-time childcare services. Our services are for families needing a small, family-like, solid, learning environment.

 

Features & Benefits

• Experienced & Educate Owner/Operator - Our owner Kimicka Woodin is not only the owner but also a parent and grandparent. Ms. Woodin has over 26 years of experience as well as holds a degree in Early Childhood Education.

• Year-Round Playschool - No need to find somewhere for your child to go during the summer months, we offer our playschool experience ALL YEAR LONG

• Separate classrooms - We offer a separate classroom for the younger and older preschoolers. This is so that children have a chance to learn and socialize with their peers of similar ages and abilities.

• Low Student to Teacher Ratios - The ratios in our class are lower than that of other programs. Our Sproutz classroom starts with children age 2 the ratio for that class the ratio is 1 teacher to 6-8 students. Our Seedlingz classroom is our Kindergarten readiness class this classroom is accommodates up to 10 students with 1 teacher. This is to ensure that your child is receiving the best quality care.

• Free Lunch - We take the guess work out of trying to figure out what to eat after you pick up your child by providing healthy nutritious lunch as a part of our learning environment by teaching table manners and healthy eating habits.

• Flexible Scheduling - As a part time only playschool, we offer several flexible scheduling options to accommodate your schedule. Whether you need 1 day or all 5 days, we are here to cater to your scheduling needs.

• Enrichment Programs - We partner with several vendors to give the students a full experience.

    Ebb & Flow Yoga   Offers us Yoga classes twice a month

    The Learning Room -  Offers us a story and craft several times a moths 

• Security Cameras - We have security cameras surrounding the facility to ensure that all students in school remain safe.

• Online Portal​ - We use an app called Lillio as a contactless way to check in and out, communicate between teachers and parents, and also handles our billing. It's basically your child's record on the go so you can keep up from anywhere.

Approach to Learning

We use a learn-through-play model to teach important academic and life skills. Our school's goal is to bridge the gap between home and school by partnering with parents for the safe, healthy care and educational foundation of the students. We want parents to feel good about our school.

Our curriculum, called the "SMALL" approach, stands for Science, Math, Arts, Language, and Literacy. We focus on a learn-through-play philosophy influenced by the Creative Curriculum. We create engaging learning centers that cover these areas, incorporating everything from block-building to dramatic play, music, and outdoor activities. This ensures each child can learn and grow at their own pace while enjoying a home-like environment.
